Peterborough United boss hoping injury to defender is not as bad as first feared

Speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph, Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has said he is hoping the injury to left-back Frazer Blake-Tracy is not as bad as first feared, adding that forward Siriki Dembele is also set to start in tonight’s Leasing.com Trophy tie with Ipswich Town.

When summer signing Frazer Blake-Tracy hobbled off against Dover Athletic at the weekend, Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson and the club’s supporters had feared that it could be a serious injury to a player who has impressed since joining in the summer from non-league side Kings Lynn.

Now, speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph, Ferguson has said that the injury is not good, but has said that he will be out for a minimum of two to three weeks. He said:

“It’s not good, but we won’t be able to assess the injury until the swelling has gone down completely. He has had an injury like this to his ankle before, so the hope is there is scar tissue which means it will be a lot easier to get him back. The boy feels quite good actually, but at a minimum, he is going to be out for at least two or three weeks.”

Ferguson also provided an update on Siriki Dembele, who has been declared fit for Tuesday night’s game against Ipswich Town after suffering tendonitis in his knee.

“It was difficult because it was a bit topsy-turvy in what we wanted to do. He has been to see the consultant and he doesn’t need an injection. So, first of all, it was a case of resting him, which we did, and then speaking to the boy, he really wants to play and feels that he can, so he will be involved against Ipswich.”
