Barry Fry provides important Peterborough United transfer update – striker offers made

Peterborough United chairman Barry Fry has spoken to the Peterborough Telegraph regarding an important transfer update.

Director of Football Barry Fry has revealed that Peterborough United have made two offers for strikers, as manager Steve Evans looks to bring in some attacking reinforcements ahead of the rest of the January transfer window.

It seems to only be a matter of time before Nottingham Forest loanee Jason Cummings leaves London Road, with another move away from the City Ground seemingly imminent. The departure of Cummings would leave Evans with just Matty Godden, Ivan Toney and Matty Stevens as striker options heading into the League One promotion dogfight.

“We have made offers to two clubs for strikers,” Fry revealed.

“The problem we have at the moment is the clubs concerned would rather loan the players rather than let us take them permanently.

“That’s no good to us as we can only have five loan players in a matchday squad and we have that many at the club already.”

Fry has also revealed that left-back Colin Daniel was on the radar of fellow League One side Southend United. However, the former Blackpool man opted against the move.

“Colin lives in Nottingham so he didn’t fancy moving to Southend.

“He has already spoken to Fleetwood, but I haven’t heard back from manager Joey Barton yet and I gave Rochdale permission to speak to him at the weekend.”

The 73-year-old also discussed Mark O’Hara’s potential move to Lincoln City. The midfielder has been linked with a switch to the Imps for some weeks now, but he is still deciding whether to go ahead with the move.

“Mark O’Hara to Lincoln has dragged on for a fortnight. There is no other club after him, but he is still pondering over the move.”

The article also revealed that Posh midfielder Jermaine Anderson has turned down a move to non-league big spenders Salford City. Young Maltese attacker Andrea Borg has also been released.
