Nottingham Forest striker linked with Hibernian return

Forgotten Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings could be a transfer target for former club Hibernian according to reports by The Scottish Sun.

The 23-year-old Edinburgh-born forward has fallen out of favour at The City Ground and is currently on loan at Sky Bet League One club Peterborough United.

It has recently been suggested that both Forest and The Posh could opt to end Cummings’ loan at The ABAX Stadium with the player also struggling for game time at his loan club. Cummings is now reportedly a potential target for former club Hibernian as they look to make solid claims for a top six spot in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Hibs have endured a season of inconsistency so far after challenging for second place for large spells of last season. Manager Neil Lennon is said to be keen to bolster his attack with a move for former star Cummings being one of several options up for consideration.

The striker joined Nottingham Forest from Hibernian in summer 2017 for an undisclosed fee. The player has made just 17 appearances for The Reds in which he has scored four goals. Cummings spent time on loan at Rangers during the second half of last season before joining Peterborough United on a season-long loan deal in July.

Cummings is just halfway through his three-year deal at The City Ground and any move back to Hibernian is likely to be on a temporary basis.
