Peterborough and Bristol Rovers leapt to within two points of the automatic promotion places in Sky Bet League One with victories on Saturday.

Louis Reed's powerful 82nd-minute strike broke Lincoln's resistance as Peterborough left it late to earn a 2-0 win.

Ivan Toney's neat lob sealed the points for the hosts before Reed was sent off for a second yellow card.

Rovers ensured they kept pace with the Posh, Tom Davies turning home a cross in the 49th minute to clinch a 1-0 home victory over struggling MK Dons, who slumped to their fifth straight league loss.

With Blackpool the only other team in the top eight at the start of the day in action, and slipping up, Peterborough and Rovers took advantage to close the gap to second-placed Wycombe.

Highlights of the Sky Bet League One match between Bristol Rovers and MK Dons

Blackpool missed the chance to go level with Wycombe as they lost 2-1 at home to Rotherham, for whom Michael Smith opened the scoring six minutes into the second half and Clark Robertson sealed the points three minutes from time.

Armand Gnanduillet's penalty at the death was too little too late.

Blackpool dropped to sixth, a point ahead of Oxford, who were 3-0 winners at home to Doncaster. Two James Henry goals, the second a penalty, sandwiched a Cameron Brannagan effort for the hosts.

Highlights of the Sky Bet League One match between Southend and AFC Wimbledon

Marcus Forss hit a hat-trick, including two in the opening 11 minutes, as AFC Wimbledon thumped fellow strugglers Southend 4-1.

The Finnish striker, on-loan from Brentford, continued his impressive start to life at Kingsmeadow, scoring twice in the opening 11 minutes and then, after Timothee Dieng pulled one back, completing his treble from the penalty spot
in the second half.

Ryan Delaney added a fourth for Wimbledon, who moved out of the bottom three.

Ian Henderson scored either side of half-time to set Rochdale on their way to a 2-1 win at home to Accrington, for whom Joe Pritchard grabbed a consolation.

The match between Portsmouth and Gillingham finished goalless.
